WP11 – Adding video to your blog

How to embed a video in your blog post.

One of the most appealing things about YouTube is how easy it is to share content with others by embedding any video on YouTube into your own blog.

Go to YouTube and find a video that you like. It doesn’t have to be a video that you created although that would be preferred.

Look for the box directly under the video and click the share button.

Then click the Embed button and an extra box appears (#2) where you can copy the embed code.  All of the code text should automatically be highlighted. If not, you’ll need to select it. Copy this code.

If you don’t want related videos to appear after your selected video has played (I usually don’t) make sure the “Include related video” (#3) box is unchecked.

This code can then be embedded in your blog post – switch to HTML mode to add the code on the post or page that you would like your video to appear.

As a shortcut you could use this snipit of YouTube code to test if you like:

<iframe width=”425″ height=”349″ src=”http://www.youtube.com/embed/xJWg7NIRB8U” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe>

This nice lady shows you how it works in this video:

If you are using the Thesis theme (recommended) you have the option of embedding the code in the Multimedia Box for the page or post that you are creating. You will find the option beneath the edit post box:

Filming Video’s – we suggest using a Kodak Playtouch video camera -

playtouch 201x300 WP11 Adding video to your blog- to capture videos for YouTube and your real estate related blog posts.

The Playtouch comes with it’s own really easy to use software. When you first attach the camera to your computer with it’s built in USB plug the the camera installs it’s own video editing and upload software.
The Kodak software also automatically loads any video on the camera, has the option to transfer the clips to your hard drive and a utility for uploading your videos directly to your YouTube account.
It really does not get any easier that that! Really!

Here is a link to the camera on Amazon. Last price I saw was under $180 for the black version.
