How to choose a real estate domain name
Hint – don't use "your name" as your domain name.
Choosing the right real estate domain name for your site is one of the important decisions that you should very carefully consider when creating your online real estate brand. If you use "yourname.com" and it turns into a really good brand, what happens when you want to retire? Will you be able to sell it?
Probably not. You will want to build a brand that you can sell one day in the future; it will be all that more difficult to sell your name if you use it as your main real estate domain name.

Before you go spending money on your real estate domain, take a few minutes to think this through. Your domain should reflect your business niche, but be easy for people to remember.
Most realtors completely miss the mark here; we don’t want you to do the same. Our advice is to at least incorporate your location/city into the domain, most of the city/home/realestate combinations will have already gone so you may have to get a little more creative.
If you get stuck for inspiration, look around and see the names that are in use in cities different from yours.
If you are a Realtor DO NOT incorporate the initials MLS in your domain – NAR has decided that's deceptive and your local Board may disipline you if someone complains.
Oh, and by the way, it really must be a dot.com domain name if you are going to be really serious about your online presence.
Once you have your domain hosted you will be able to use your chosen name as your professional email address so our last piece of advice is to make it easy to spell out to consumers and clients!

Hi Peter,
Thanks for including one of my blog post to the tips
Nice advice – I’m tempted to use my real name as a domain name. Unless I want to work for a lifetime, that would be a bad move
I would add that the domain name should be relatively short and one that you won’t have to spell out every time you give it out over the phone. You’ll be doing a lot of that if you are going to use it as your email address too.
My first domain was: realestateinfostl.com. The letters all ran together and it is hard to see the words visually so that it will be easy to remember. Every time I gave out my email over the phone I had to say it very slowly to make sure people got it right.
After about a year, I changed it to: ArchCityHomes.com. Much easier all the way around.
Spot on comment Karen! Good example of a domain name that didn’t work, well done for realizing and changing – absolutely no point in flogging a dead horse ..
Make sure if you buy a name with home in the title to get the corresponding house name and point it to the home name.
example= sellorlandohomefast.com then buy sellorlandohousefast.com and point it to the first one
http://www.Turff.com is a website that sells only real estate domain names.
Check it out and let me know what you think!
