Don’t want to blog? Try Twittering instead
Tweet Tweet! Don’t want to blog? No time to blog? Not a writer?
But still hoping you can attract a few of those next generation buyers & sellers online? If so, twitter, may be just what the Dr. ordered for you.

Not sure what twitter is? Wake up and go visit www.twitter.com to see for yourself what this very simple site can do for you.
At first glance it may seem stupid, it did to me anyway; however after watching my wife tweet about her site the past couple weeks I am amazed.
If you blog as well the power of tweeting may actually be the quickest way to drive traffic to your site.
Twitter is perfect for those of you that don’t want to blog, don’t have time to blog or don’t like to write because your tweets are limited to only 140 characters. (this sentence is 162 characters). Tweets are a lot like a long text message. Visit www.twitter.com today and register your account.
This is where I was a little lost by the whole twitter thing, who do you follow & why do strangers follow you? You can even tweet from your cell phone, which is handy for those of you that still refuse to get with the times. You can follow just about anyone you want: bloggers, industry experts, pet lovers, designers, etc….
The real art seems to be figuring out the best way to use this powerful tool to grow your business.
A easy alternative to blogging
As I stated earlier, twitter is perfect for those of you that just do not want to blog. I understand, blogging does take time and energy, without it you are most likely just wasting your time. Twitter provides you a simple way to communicate with your network. You can post a comments to twitter vs. you can post just about anything to your blog (photos, links, articles, and more). Twitter is best used as a compliment to your blog and/or website.
Different kinds of tweets
A personal tweet vs. Business tweets is the question. Twitter can easily be used for both and commonly is. Twitter is really just another way to keep in touch with everyone you know and a few that you don’t.
You are right, most people really don’t care if you are walking your dog or doing research, people do like to feel connected. This is the perfect way to communicate with friends & family when you don’t have a lot to say.

You’ve got to get in the action. You’ve got to find where buyers and sellers are and communicate to them in the method in which they’re natively comfortable. There’s a few critically missing pieces, however. And this is key:
Twittering is not prospecting. Nor is it marketing. So what is it? Twittering is essentially singing a song into the wind and hoping the right songbirds hear it. The song needs to be “I’m your local economist of choice.” but dont forget to say “use me in your next RE transaction..” does that fit in the 140 characters twitter limits per post?
Can you use ”the twit” to make direct or indirect offers? In the Lead Conversion tactic of Gary Keller’s recent book SHIFT, Gary explains direct offers are “call me on your next Real Estate transaction” and indirect offers include things like offering free CMAs and market info.
Once you find out how to make direct offers on Twitter (that people will read, act, and respond to) or how to articulate your indirect offers in a way that drives traffic to your lead capturing tools, then you’re good to go. Otherwise, Twitter will be neither a prospecting tool or a marketing tool.
It will be a 140 character singsong to your fans and followers. Here’s to all the absolute rock star agents out there! Who cares if twitter is neither prospecting nor marketing? You do! It’s your choice but why not find a free 3 minutes, txt a little update to your twitter account and call yourself high tech?
I’ll tell you this: playing twitter will give you something to talk about when you’re actually prospecting! “Hey John, how are you?” “Me? I’m great, thanks for asking. I actually just started posting to twitter! Hey, are you ready to sell that house of yours yet and move up while rates are good?”
Cheers,
Ryan
