Many Realtors just don’t know where to effectively start online.

  • I am not a tech person

These are poor excuses that play into your fear of taking action.

I have spent several hours posting on ActiveRain but haven’t generated any new biz. I am frustrated because I never get comments from other bloggers and feeling like its a waste of time. Maybe you guys can help me.

I also have a blog at http://www.highlands-ranch-real-estate-blog.com. I post fairly often but just do not seem to get any juice. My website has over 400 pages and I am still struggling to stay on the first page for “Highlands Ranch Colorado Real estate” and cannot seem to get above 4th page for Denver Real Estate. I would like to see how a well optimized blog can increase traffic and organic search results for an already “good” website and a regular blogger.

I try to ramble through the internet and keep myself visable. Not having a brand after my name, has limited my marketing abilities. I would love help and direction to grow my company, with my blog on wordpress! Looking forward to the process, and mostly, the much needed, help!

Back in 2002/2003 I had no problem getting clients online. I had to do very little to find qualified buyers. Business was so frantic at that time that I didnt have to create very personal relationships. For 3 Years, I was able to sell over 4 milllion dollars in property as buyers found me.

Now in 2009 I am scrambling for my next deal every month.

I dont have a wordpress blog and would love to learn how to use a blog to create new relationships with longevity.

Free is perhaps one of the most inspiring words to mankind! I couldn’t resist the chance to win a wonderful opportunity. Good offer Drew and Peter.

Have any of you heard of Guam? Most of you haven’t, some of you will. If you haven’t heard of Guam (BTW-its a beautiful tropical island where I work and play) the name may prompt you to ask Google where and what is Guam. And we have all learned that what Google recommends in the top rankings becomes the source of knowledge to many consumers.

The challenge that I face in starting a blog is lack of knowledge on where to start and how to begin in a cost effective manner. I know that you can DIY for free, but in monitoring the movement of Web 2.0 I have learned that if you want to get ranked in the right place it takes some major know how and navigational skills to successfully market and rank your blog. In short, the whole process is very intimidating, and paid expertise would most definitely be a benefit.

Okay I LOVE FREE!!!. I know love is a strong word on a first date or comment. But there you have the honest truth I love FREE.

How will I use this FREE fully optimized Blog Site. I promise I will keep it updated with new and exciting content. I will use keywords rich (Whatever that is?) stuff.

What is my biggest online challenge, spelling, content, content, and more content. Did I tell you I LOVE Free stuff.

I Just do not know how you both keep coming up with stuff to write about. With this free blog site and training from Web Real Estate Marking. I will be ready to rock 2010

Thank’s Drew and Peter

@J. Karl – sorry you are feeling like its all a waste of time, but to be honest I feel that same way about my A/R blog (when it comes to meeting buyers/sellers anyway)

@Pete – I would say you are doing a few things right if you are on the front page of Google for your keywords :) I see that you are using a .blogspot.com blog … our first piece of advice is to start using your own hosted blog.

@Connie – great job at being on the front page of Google. Are you tracking how much traffic you get to your site from the different keywords that are getting you to the top? Sounds like you may need to improve your onsite CTA’s

@Fran – what do you mean when you say “not having a brand after your name…?” Do you have an existing site that we could look at?

@David – yes current times demand that you build personalized relationships with people now. What has prevented you from setting up a blog?

@Shawntel – I have never been to Guam, but I do have a wonderful friend on the island. She tells me great things about it and I am hoping to visit there someday. I agree, technology moves at the speed of light. You know that you can always hire us to help you get up to speed, right ;)

@Durrell – those are big promises if you win. You have hit the nail on the head, those are the critical steps to success when it comes to blogging: fresh, new, relevant & consistent info with smart keywords

Thank you to all of you for your comments.
Drew

Drew,

Free! love saying out loud. I want to thank you guys for the free, free, free seminar you guys gave the other day at SDAR. My brain was going crazy with all the possibilities and felt more confident about the notion of blogging after the class.

My question is which is superior wordpress.com of typepad.com

With Wordpress.com you have more control of your material because you host your own material and benefits someone who is some what technical.
But with typepad.com you pay a small fee and they host everything and you are not limited by anything like video of audio. You have full control, you don’t host your own material but have access to it. Is this something that a Realtor would benefit because there are less steps and most of us Realtors are not that tech savvy?

Sincerely,

Abel

Peter here, I switched from TypePad to WordPress 3 years ago when it became clear that WordPress had a greater following. It meant that there would be more programmers willing to create the plugins that enable the platform to outperform any others out there, by far!

Oh Help!
I have been blogging through Top Producer for a couple of months. It is Wordpress but I believe with limited capabilities. I would like to export what I have posted to date to Wordpress and learn to use all it’s available features. I would like to learn to link my blog to FB and LinkedIn and Trulia if possible…and I forgot AR. Also, I believe it is possible to set up a blog so I don’t need my website. I would definitely consider discontinuing the website. I need help SE O. I need help to put the pieces together…assuming the pieces will fit. I know there are so many more possibilities out there. I just don’t know what, where or how. The bottom line is I need help!

I would be so VERY excited to win this opportunity!

Thank you for the possibility,
Sandra

OK, Drew, after sitting through the “Drew and Peter Show” presentation, engaging in the “How Social Networking Will Change My Marketplace” conversations, and reserving a dozen URLs, I’m ready to set up my website and blog. It’s just so damn hard to change habits and learn something new! But, as an experienced REALTOR, I’ve learned that FREE is a really good deal. Does this include dinner? Let’s set up a time this week to move forward. Thanks for your help. Dave

OK Guys! I am here because I have been researching social networking and redesigning my Real Estate website.
I’ve learned the vital importance of having a blog, and I am trying to learn how to set it up. That’s where I run into problems, because appearance is crucial to me!! I obsess on the smallest details, when I have no experience to alter them!!
But what has dawned on me, through my countless hours of research is the need for a more simplified website.
My current website has tons of pages of professionally, pre-written content. It contains every topic you could imagine!! But its BORING! No one wants to read all those millions of generic, smart-sounding, boring words that don’t relate to anything they are interested in!! I’m realizing that less is more, and the need for a more simplified theme!!
So, I’ve decided to redesign my website to be centered around a blog. Quite simply, the main page would be the blog, I’d like and IDX search to the right, a few pages for featured listings and contact info, and thats it!!
I want simple.
I want appealing.
Sounds easy enough… Not so much for me though!!

Winning this customized WordPress blog set-up and mentoring session, would change the way the world sees me!! This would give me the ground work I need to emerge myself into social networking and hit 2010 on fire!!

I’m ready! Let’s get started!!

I have a site that I have struggled with for several years. I seem to be losing page rank. I would love to start over again with a new fresh blog that will enable me to capture clients and actually help me to convert them. I have spent a lot of money with different “pieces” of my site. It would be great for a fresh start and a new look to focus on east metro areas of Atlanta that I focus on.
I have learned alot from your site and come back often to see your new work. Thanks for designing this site to help everyone else.

Drew Burks October 6, 2009 at 5:46 pm

@Sandra – yes “integration” is the key. I hope you win :) but if not we can still help you get all the pieces put together & working.

@David – first thing to keep in mind is that your “blog” is your “website”, they are one in the same. Sorry no free dinners :) We will be happy to schedule a meeting to discuss your needs/goals.

@Sherri – fingers crossed that you win :) it sounds like you have a templated website that came out of the box with pre-written content. Correct? If so this is bad news :( Success in social networking & blogging is all about fresh new relevant content & listening to your audience.

@Debra – thank you for the kind words. we are very happy that you enjoy the site.

I need a kick start big time. I’ve relocated clear across country and need some serious help to get my new real estate business started. I thought I would retire from the equity in my Northern California home. HAH!! Big joke. Paid the loan off. Now starting over in Lake Conroe Texas. I’ve started blogging with LakeConroe411.com hoping to create an information source for the geographical area, but want to do it right the FIRST time.

Hi Drew!
Thanks for the comments. Yes, you are correct, my current site is loaded with pre-written content.
That’s exactly what I want to get away from!! I really like the idea of a blog web site with an idx search function. I’d like to post fresh and relevant content and be able to engage with my followers!
I just need help laying the ground work!!

Thanks again!

What is holding me back is the fact that I don’t know how to put up a blog that runs on my website. I’d like for visitors to see and post to my blog without having to leave. I’m a good candidate to receive a free blog because I will use it to serve it’s readers with interesting and useful information THAT THEY CAN APPLY to constructively benefit themselves and others.

Hi Drew and Peter,

I am definitely having a challenge getting my internet presence organized! I would like to have everything in one place! I have a website, but it does not really capture leads effectively. I would love to have a site where I could blog, capture leads, allow people to search for properties, and let them get information about the market. It sounds like WordPress can do it all! If I could win that prize, I would keep the site fresh with new pictures and relevant information. In addition, I would really reach out to Georgia residents losing their homes to foreclosure because I would have an interesting and useful site for them to visit to get solutions and help. Thanks!

I currently have a ‘blog site’ http://www.TamaraStoebe.blogspot.com – my biggest difficulty is writing an article that’s interesting to someone other than myself. I feel that I write fairly well, it’s just not getting attention.

I belong to ActiveRain and post all my blogs there as well as Tweet on Twitter that my new blog is up, which also updates Facebook. I have the ‘right’ actions going, but it’s not effective action.

I think that winning this package will allow me to become more effective and really help those individuals who may be following me or are looking for a local real estate agent to follow.

Thank you.

I have had “start writting a blog” on my to do list for 2 years. Two YEARS! I signed up for a free one, so have a tool to do it, but I just haven’t done it. I don’t know where to start, I want to keep my target market engaged, but don’t want to turn them off with too much “selling”, I need help.

I have been a realtor for about a year and a half. I am just getting used to Facebook but would love to be included in this real estate blog and the contest. You didn’t say what time on the 11th, so I hope this makes it. Most of my prior career experience has been spent working in arts and cultural organizations and educational institutions. My SOI list is great; however, I’m not generating any business and am running out of marketing dollars for sure. My dogs, Oliver and Flanagan, are pulling for me to win this contest! They want more dog food and more treats!

An optimized blog… yay!

I can write posts, but I’m still in the fat crayon stage when it comes to setting up a blog from scratch. It would be great to have some qualified assistance in setting up a blog that is both optimized and attractive instead of being held back by my limited tech knowledge. Opt-in forms and all those nice lead capture goodies are eluding me so far… help!

Pick me! Pick me! :-)

Thanks!
