We recommend using a Flip video as a down and dirty camera -
- to capture videos for YouTube and your real estate related blog posts.
We bought a Flip video camera and started taking videos, but the the mistake we made was trying to have the perfect set before we posted them to YouTube and incorporate them in the site.
On our first attempt we even went out on location we chose a wonderful backdrop of the San Diego Embarcadero with San Diego Bay and Cororado Island in the distance, but the sound levels got screwed up with the wind and the wave action right behind us! Take a quick look at the example on the right – complete with bell ringing!
Getting started on your real estate video series.
So the lesson we learned in shooting short informative videos is choose a quiet room, try and find a blank wall behind you, no distractions, right down your key points, keep your eyes on the camera lens (otherwise you look really shifty) stay focused and just go for it.
Video topics for Real estate
Not sure which subjects might interest consumers? Here are a couple of suggestions along with some inspiration:
If you have a small neighborhood niche interview local merchants. The butcher, the baker, the candlestick (you get the idea)
Create neghborhood pages and intergrate videos about those areas – the shops, parks, schools, types of homes available. (here is an example)
If the area you serve has lots of condo building film the amenities – pools, fitness facilities, maybe even interview some residents. (see Ian Watts site)
30 to 60 seconds long is ideal or you will have lost their interest. Keep it short, keep it relevant and speak from the heart.
Unless of course you are Bill White from Calgary, he put together this amazing rememborable video. You may not want to do something similar but it may give you some inspiration!
Here is another super example of a real estate agents ingenuienty in how to engage an audience, gaining respect and authority along the way:
Lets not forget the SEO advantages for including video in blogs
YouTube is the second largest search engine on the planet. Posting and hosting your videos on YouTube with the right descriptions and tags will do wonders for driving traffic to your videos and your blog posts.
And if you are still not convinced of the potential to attract new clients click over for a really great testimonial for using the Flip camera and blogging.
So please don't hesitate anymore –
- go ahead and create a YouTube account, start shooting and posting those videos!
