Google now offers FREE Phone calls
Now you can make free Google phone calls to anywhere in the US and Canada right from inside your Gmail.
It's hard to believe that cell phone companies are still getting away with the ridiculously expensive service plans and overage minute fees. Until recently Skype was the only real internet phone service available if you wanted to escape the traditional phone company, but now Google has just entered the space.
When I logged into my Gmail account today I noticed the new Google Phone Call service.

If you click the "Learn More" link you will see the below screens along with the instructions for downloading and installing the voice & video chat application to your computer.

Just click the big blue button "install voice & video chat" on your screen to install. From start to finish it took less than 3 minutes to download and make my first call.

Look at these cheap calling rates, just click on the "Rate Comparison Table" to see rates for anywhere in the world. I love this, because I am always in front of my computer and I use Google Chat to communicate with dozens of people throughout the day.
This really comes at a great time for me since I just finally gave in and bought the new iPhone 4 (which I LOVE) and made the switch to AT&T (very expensive) I can now cut back on my cell phone minutes.

Google really does have it all: a huge selection of FREE Web Tools, FREE Phone calls, FREE Video chat and more.
In today's business environment I find myself collaborating with people from all over the world so having access to these tools are awesome. With the new iPhone 4 Face Time and now Google Phone Calls / Video Chat we have so many reasons to stay connected with family, friends and co-workers no matter the distance.

But skype is free 4 int’l calls. We’d have 2 pay 22 cents/min 2 call in-laws
@Billy – good point
