Who’s on your Facebook Friends list?
If you’re like most of us in the real estate industry, you created a page or pages on several social networking sites and started adding friends willy-nilly — peers, personal friends, childhood and college friends and co-workers alike.
You ended up with a jumbled mess of contacts with no clear understanding of why you have them on your list or what you are supposed to do with them now that they are!
The most common remark I hear from people is, "I don’t want to see photos of their family and friends, or care about what they did over the weekend and they probably don’t want to read my inspirational business quotes or read articles that I find interesting."
The other remark I hear a lot is "I keep getting all these people from high school asking me to be friends; I didn’t like them in school and I don’t want to like them now".
So What! Don’t accept their friend request!
The beautiful thing about technology and social network sites is you are in control and since Facebook is by far the most popular and the largest sphere in the world let’s take a look at how to use "Facebook friend lists".
What are Facebook Friend Lists?
Friend lists provide organized groupings of your Facebook friends. For example, you can create a Friend List for your family and a separate friend list for business acquaintenances and another for your real estate clients clients. You can filter your view on the homepage so that you see the stream of activity from a single group or multiple groups; you are in complete control!
Friend Lists are easy to manage and allow you to send messages and invites to these groups of people all at once.

To create and customize your own Friend Lists, follow these 4 steps:
1. Click the "Create" link that appears beneath the filters on the left side of your home page or your Friends page. Or, click the "Create New List" button from the "All Friends" tab of the Friends page.

2. Type the title of your list and hit enter.
3. Add friends to the list by typing their names into the "Add to List" field or selecting them from the list.
4. Select "Save List" to store your changes.
Using your Facebook lists!
After you have created your list(s) you will be able to target your messages to the best audience. Example, you don’t want your clients showing up to your work party, or your co-workers showing up to your daughters 6th birthday party.
Additionally, you will now able to quickly glance at the news feed for each individual friend lists. This is important when it comes to time management: you should schedule social networking time for both business and personal – mixing the two will most likely waste a bunch of your time.

Good article. One more thing to organize, but it does always simplify things in the long run.
