Where are you more likely to take the time to comment?
Every day we scan and read blogs, forums, Facebook pages but few take the time to comment or add to the conversation.
That's a crying shame!
Sometimes the blame can be laid at the door of the software creators or sometimes the blog owner who misconfigured their blog setup.
Blogs
Some blog owners are scared of inviting comments and don't ask for feedback.
This is a crucial mistake because a two way conversation between the blog writer and their readers is the very essence of social media …
Next time you write a post for your blog consider the reader "What's in it for them". Make it relevant, timely and interesting. At the end of your piece ask a question – a call for action.
This is going to be important in the future as I can see the search engines favoring blogs with plenty of interations over those that don't.
Forums
Forums are a classic way of communicating going back to the very early stages of the way the internet evolved – bulletin boards were in use even before email became mainstream.
Forums are specially built for like minded individuals to get together and discuss mutual interests.
Many forums are based around support for products but why not services? I can see the benefits of creating a forum for a real estate agents business – there are WordPress plugins (or SimplePress) that make the addition of a forum an easy add on for blog owners.
Here on WebRealEstateTools we are using bbPress, for our real estate forum – but it is a little harder to intergrate bbPress into an existing WordPress blog.
Facebook
When you visit Facebook are you a "lurker" (non participator) or do you post and contribute interesting comments, suggestions, facts or ideas?
I don't know about you, but more often than not I see Facebook status updates looking very lonely with no comments or likes at all – you have to ask "what's the point?"
Do you have a Facebook Fan Page for your business?
If not why not? It's the perfect place to engage your audience (hopefully potential clients) but they are not going to keep coming back to your page if you don't get your strategy right.
A Facebook page is quickly indexed by Google and will show up in search results, so when you share your stuff keep this in mind.
So our question to you is -
Are you more likely to take the time to comment on a blog post or a forum or Facebook?

Odd that no one has commented yet on this post
I enjoy commenting on other blogs and participating on forums, although I only participate on certain forums as that can get tedious to remember.
I can say that a few great relationships and business ventures have initially been starting from commenting whether it be I approached a commentator or vice versa, even on other blogs.
