Web5Live – Review of my cloud tools!
Many of you asked and I listened …
Here is a quick review of the primary tools I am using to run my real estate business from the cloud. By cloud, I mean applications that are not running on my computer – they are browser based – accessed from a URL.
Working from the cloud has some huge benefits:
- Being able to access your files from any computer, anywhere
- Added Assurance that your files are safe – You don't have to worry about backing up files like you would when they were exclusively on your local machine
I am using BatchBook for my contact management system and really love it. Batchbook, your Social CRM, is web based and offers many very cool features, including robust reporting and partner integration. It also has a great iPhone application so that you can access your full contact management system from your phone.
Another very cool feature is how it seamlessly integrates with gmail.

The only real issue I have with Batchbook is that they, like other CRM systems, do not pull information from Facebook. But I must admit this is the only real shortcoming I have discovered.

Batchbook Integration Partners
The integration that Batchbook offers has to be the greatest feature!
Finally a contact management system that allows single point of entry while giving you the full functionality of other great third party services.
You can watch a ton of Batchbook Screencasts here!
Google Apps is a huge part of my mobile lifestyle.
I have been trying to free myself from Windows products like MS Office for the past year and Google Docs has helped me do so and of course Google Docs is FREE which is a huge benefit. It is true that Google Docs don't have the same features as MS Office docs, but the cloud benefits outweigh the features that I rarely used anyway.
As a long time Microsoft Outlook user, I am loving the Google Calendar! The Google Calendar offers me every bit of functionality and then some. By far the shared calendar feature is one of my favorites, it has streamlined my scheduling and allows others to see my availability before requesting a meeting with me.
No more version control with Google Docs … real time editing comes in very handy when collaborating with others. And of course, the ability to access your docs anytime anywhere is very helpful!
Gmail may be the single biggest change for me, I was addicted to all of the Outlook folders and the usability that came with Outlook; additionally, I used to believe it was important to have your email be @yourowndomain …
But I no longer believe this is important and have made gmail my primary email address.
NOTE – I think it still is 🙂 ~ Peter
