FB 5.5 Subscriptions to Facebook users feeds
If a Friend request is not honored you …
…. have the option of subscribing to a Facebook user’s news feed, providing they have turned on that option.
Or perhaps you want to follow someone you don’t really know.
You can hear directly from people you’re interested in but don’t know personally—like journalists, artists and political figures.
Depending on their settings there is a chance to communicate with that person too ..
Ever faced the problem when someone you meet once requests to be your “friend” on the service, even though you aren’t really “friends.”
Or your Friend already had too many friends – Facebook is still maintaining the 5000 friend limit.
Facebook now has a feature that feels very similar to the follow button on Twitter, which allows people to subscribe to parts of your news feed without having to become your Facebook friend.
There is a plus; by subscribing to someone you can decide which updates you want to see.
You can use the Subscribe button to:
- Choose what you see from people in News Feed, All updates, Most updates Important updates only.
- Hear from people, even if you’re not friends
- Let people hear from you, even if you’re not friends
You can also decide what types of updates you see. For example, you could see just photos from one friend, no stories about games from another, and nothing at all from someone else.
So if you see a Subscribe button on your favorite blogger’s profile, this means you can subscribe. Just click the button to get their public updates right in your News Feed.
Click the Subscribe button on someone’s profile (timeline).
This button is only visible if the person has allowed subscribers. To enable others to “Subscribe” to your updates
- Go to your profile (timeline) and click Subscriptions on the left side of the page, under your profile picture.
- Click “Allow Subscribers” at the top of this tab.
- After you click “Allow Subscribers,” your settings appear.
- From here, you can edit who can comment on your public posts and when you’re notified about new subscribers.
